Dear Families of Luther Home Residents,

I would like to begin this letter by thanking everyone for their understanding and overwhelming support of the strict measures we have put into effect to mitigate the risk of viral entry into our beloved Home. We are acutely aware of how stressful and uncertain this time has become, and offer you our continued prayers. May it be of solace to you that your loved ones are well, and our staff continues to provide the excellent care to which they have become accustomed.

As Luther Home prepares for community spread within Manitoba, we must continue in the same vain of keeping our Residents safe and healthy by halting any avenue of viral transmission. Effective today, we are directing all Families and loved ones to discontinue to delivery of food, clothes, toiletries or any other personal belongings. Although the clinical case of COVID-19 is not fully understood, scientists believe the virus can stay on plastic and fabric for several days.  Therefore, we must halt this delivery practice immediately.

There are Families who may worry about supplies running out for their loved one. At this time we have enough supplies on hand, and will monitor counts daily. We will have one staff dedicated to the purchase of additional supplies on a go forward basis.  Please know strict Infection Control practices will be adhered to upon such purchase and entry into Luther Home.

We will continue to update you as things change and issues arise.

Thank you and God Bless,

 Karen Odiatu
